Petrichor, the smell of earth after rain.

Petrichor, the smell of earth after rain. That was the smell that I woke up to this morning. I opened the window and watched the drops slowly gliding down the leaves. A tale wags against my leg. As I look down her big brown eyes stare at me in wonder, wonder when we will finally go outside and play. I’m home, and home is were my puppies are. Home is in the country side, close to the beach but in the middle of the fields. In the middle of the sheep and the horses, but close to a pretty town named Rye.

You see that face? Thats exactly what I wake up to in the morning. I open my eyes and she will always be 2 inches away from my face staring at me, jumping on top of the covers and using her nose to push me until I finally get up. I don’t think I can imagine a better alarm then that!

Once in a while I like to get out and go to the countryside. I enjoy hearing nothing else than trees wrestling and birds singing, the smell of fresh rain and firewood, the view of endless woods and fields. Don’t get me wrong, I love the city for it never sleeps, the bright lights, the excitement. But whats wrong with enjoying both worlds?

When I spend time in the countryside – apart from being outside – I also love spending time inside as I see it as the perfect opportunity to get messy and cooking! Today I made a delicious granola! Perfect for busy mornings but also great for toppings for example on acai bowls!

You will notice that when you bake this the whole house smells sweet and amazing, trust me, you won’t be able to keep your hands of it! – I usually finish half the batch when it just comes out of the oven and it’s still warm! Did you get hungry yet? Then keep on tight! The recipe will be online tomorrow!!
