My all time favourite coffee in Canggu, Bali

Your sleepy eyes slowly open, your are comfortable. That feeling you get when waking up in a warm cosy bed hasn’t left your mind yet. A breeze flows through your hair as you take your first sip of hot coffee. It warms you up inside and leaves you speechless for a second as you enjoy that first sip full of flavour. For me, this is a moment of pure happiness.

Since I moved to Canggu in Bali I have been looking for the perfect cup of coffee to create these moments of happiness every morning. After many cups in many different cafes I have finally found the cafe that never lets me down and always leaves me in my coffee dreamland.

Welcome to Satu Satu, my little piece of coffee heaven.

‘Banana Chia Jug’ and coconut cappuccino –Satu Satu

Satu Satu is a cute cafe in which you feel cosy the moment you walk in. The smell of freshly baked croissants and grounded coffee fills the air. Apart for the coffee I also absolutely love going for breakfast here. My two favourite meals are the ‘Banana chia jug’ (40k Idr/ 2.10 pounds) and the ‘Satu Satu style porridge’ (40k Idr/ 2.10 pounds).

Both meals are the ultimate breakfasts to have on any day. Full of delicious goodness to keep you energised! The ‘Banana Chia Jug’ is made with a papaya smoothie, banana, chia seeds and topped with coconut and granola. Its fresh, healthy and delicious!

The ‘Satu Satu style porridge’ is made from oatmeal, quinoa, chia seeds, banana and coconut milk topped with fresh fruit, granola and served with caramelised banana. Honestly every spoonful is an explosion of flavours. Its also an extremely healthy start of the day and this meal will keep you energised and full throughout the morning.

Now, about their coffee. At Satu Satu they make their own coconut milk which is absolutely delicious. I found that many cafes in Canggu use a very oily coconut milk, which I am not a fan off. It overpowers the coffee taste and leaves an oily after taste. However, when coconut milk is home-made it usually is amazing. Perfect for a cappuccino! If you are a coffee lover like I am then you will be happy to hear that they offer 3 different cup sizes here – small, medium and LARGE! (For those Monday mornings)

My regular is a large cappuccino with coconut milk and it fulfils my coffee dreams every time! The coffee itself is full of flavour. Its rich and smooth. Its not bitter but has a little sweet after taste. Unlike usual Bali coffee its not watery at all and actually has rather strong flavours. Mix it with some milk, especially their freshly home-made coconut milk and you have yourself a match made in heaven!

Brunch and tropical vibes at Sprout, Bali

I am the biggest salad lover. And being vegan it is always fun to mix up your salad with some colour, different flavours, proteins, textures and even some wow factor ingredients that really stand out! This is why I absolutely love going to Sprout as here they have a large menu, with lots of vibrant salads! But the best thing is, for someone like me I am extremely indecisive. Yep, the worst. But here I wont stare at the menu for an hour as at Sprout you can choose up to 3 different salads and they will combine all of them on one plate! Problem solved!

Sprout is a cosy cafe with a real tropical vibe. You walk through the arch onto the terrace where you can sit underneath the green treas. With an occasional leaf falling on your table you feel comfortable in the shade – escaping from Bali’s heat.

The menu is extremely vibrant and everything sounds absolutely delicious. Order a cold fresh coconut or one of my favourite drinks named ‘Shearwater’ (38k Idr/ 2 pounds)  This smoothie is made with watermelon, coconut, mint and chia seeds. Giving it a really fresh taste – perfect for a hot day!

However, the reason why I love coming here is for the salads. You can choose from a vibrant selection such as ‘couscous salad’ , ‘kale and chickpea falafel salad’, ‘lentil salad’, ‘raw veggie salad’ and many more! Create your own plate and indulge yourself into its deliciousness! A mixed salad plate only costs 75 Idr (4 pounds) and you’ll find that its a great portion, perfect for lunch!

There are lots more different delicious dishes on the menu such as a ‘kimchi quinoa bowl’ or ‘buckwheat pancakes’. The more you read the more indecisive you get! Everything sounds and looks delicious.

Sprout has a relaxing vibe, great food and you can even buy delicious cakes, biscuits and bread to take away! Its the perfect place to keep in mind whenever you fancy a quick bite, a delicious filling salad or when you need some essentials or ingredients to take home with you!

Im sure you’ll fall in love with this place and its food just as much as I did! Enjoy!

Sprout is open from 7am until 6pm.

Its located on Jl. Raya Semat No.18, Canggu, Bali.

Vegan deliciousness at Peloton Supershop

Im the biggest breakfast fan and I love coming to Peloton Supershop to fulfil all my breakfast dreams! This cafe shows anyone that vegan food is vibrant and delicious! Its a plant based cafe combined with a bicycle store, yep, you heard that right! “Would you like a bicycle with your coffee sir?”

When you walk in you immediately feel at ease as the staff welcomes you in with a smile. You can feel the relaxing atmosphere and the smell of coffee hangs as a cloud in the air. You notice that its an artistic but fresh interior as your eyes make their way around the cafe. A bicycle hangs on the wall and rustic stairs lead to a second level which is designed with a cosy wooden interior. Everything about this cafe feels like its at ease, its cosy, fresh, and beautifully designed!

The food they serve is so vibrant and full of different colours and flavours. For breakfast I love to get one of their delicious smoothie bowls! The ‘Green Bowl’  is my favourite! (60k Idr/3.70 Euro) Not a great breakfast fan or a not really a morning person? No worries, they are also open for lunch and dinner!

‘VEG OUT BURGER’ with spirulina bun & ‘Rendang Burger’ with charcoal bun –Peloton Supershop

One of my favourite vegan burgers is served right here! The ‘VEG OUT BURGER’ is fresh, crunchy and delicious! This burger is served in a green spirulina bun! (70k IDR/ 4.40 euro) Another great burger is the ‘Rendang Burger’ which is made out of jackfruit! This has a slightly more meaty texture but is full of strong flavours!

I often order a quick health shot just to do my body a favour! Today I chose a ‘Moringa Shot’ (15k Idr/0.90 Euro). It might not have the best taste but tilt your head and give your body the goodness it deserves! Moringa is full of vitamin A, vitamin C, protein and calcium! Its a natural energy booster, lowers blood pressure, anti amatory, immune booster and it improves digestion! – What more do you want!

Make sure to visit this cafe when finding yourself in Canggu, its a treat for both your mind and body! Delicious, vegan and healthy! Enjoy!

Peloton Supershop is located on Jl. Pantai Berawa No.46, Canggu Bali.

Its open for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 7.30 am to 10pm.

Crate cafe – vibrant and trendy brunch spot you can’t miss

As you might know Canggu is full of trendy cafes and bars, vegan, organic or raw, you have it all! But as there is quite a large choice, which do you choose? Well, the best place to start is at the beautifully raw cafe named Crate Cafe in Canggu! This cafe has a buzzing atmosphere and is one of the trendiest spots. The interior has a rustic look and is build with few walls, this way everything feels very open and spacious. When walking up the rustic stairs you find yourself on the roof top which is beautifully designed. The whole place has a raw and earthy feeling to it. And this reflects in their food! A huge menu is written on the rusty wall and each dish sounds more amazing than the last, making it very hard to choose!

What I have

Both the juices ‘Dr. ABC‘ and ‘Surfs Up‘ are my favourites. They are both deliciously refreshing, which is always a win win in Bali! (50k Idr/ 2.80 Gbp).

For a vegetarian breakfast both the ‘Brekkie Plate‘ (50k idr/ 2.80 Gbp) and the ‘Veto‘ (45k Idr/2.50 Gbp) are a filling and healthy breakfast, which is a win win!

However, for my fellow vegans, you’re in for a treat! They have the most exotic chia pods that you HAVE to try. Not only are they vibrant and super delicious, they are also extremely Instagram friendly! A big jug of chia pudding topped with a smoothie will overflow your jug leaving a delicious mess. Two of my favourites are the ‘Chia Boy‘ which is chocolate and coconut based and the ‘BlueBS‘ is made with blue spirulina giving it the most awesome colour.

Another two deliciously vegan breakfasts/brunches are called the ‘Hipstar‘ which consists of Acai, berries and Chia (50k Idr/ 2.80 Gbp) and the ‘Green brekkie‘ which consists of quinoa, greens and avocado (45k Idr/2.50 Gbp). One thing is for sure, you will definitely be leaving with a happy body and a happy mind every. single. time.

For an extra pick me up I also love getting a ‘Dirty Chai Latte‘ which is a delicious Chai latte with almond milk and a shot of espresso. Accompany your latte with a vegan muffin and you will be left mind blown. (My favourite combo!)

The service is quick and the people are lovely! Don’t have time to sit down? Order a take away and enjoy a delicious breakfast on the road! It’s a must visit spot for any trendy bendy especially if you want to keep up with the Bali hype!

Where to go

Crate Cafe is open everyday from 07:00 – 15:00 and is located on Jalan Canggu Padang Linjong in Canggu.

Live music is being played and the Bob Marley records are coming out. This whole vibe is just magical. With the sound of the sea crushing against the sand in the background, you tilt your head backwards and look at the stars, thinking “I am never going home”.

If you are loving this spot but are starting to get hungry you can either eat on the beach or you can walk up a few meters and you will find a place named Old Mans in which they serve amazing food and drinks. Its also a great spot with the best atmosphere and lovely people! So don’t even get changed and stay in that bikini, and get your booty down to the beach to enjoy one of many Bali’s summer nights!

Being vegan it never happened before that I basically want to order half of the menu in a restaurant that isn’t specialised in vegan food. But in this restaurant I was blown away by the delicious options. For both the vegetarian and non vegetarian lovers the menu is mind-blowing. – I will have to return many times to try every single dish! (Getting excited just thinking about it!)

I will give you one tip, this is very important: For dessert order the pancakes filled with coconut. They are a mouthful of heaven!
