This granola is one of my all-time favourites! It’s healthy, delicious, easy to make and if you keep it in an airtight container you’ll be able to enjoy it for more than a week – in my house it doesn’t last that long! 😉
Makes one big jar of granola.
300 grams oats
100 grams pecans
50 grams shaved almonds
100 grams agave syrup
60 grams liquid coconut oil
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 tablespoon hennep seeds
3 tablespoons cinnamon
Start by turning on the oven on 180c (fan).
Place the oats, shaved almonds and cinnamon inside a big bowl and mix.
Break the pecans in half or smaller and mix into the bowl.
Get a smaller bowl and put the coconut oil and syrup inside, mix until it forms one thick liquid.
Pour the coconut oil and syrup mix into the large bowl with the other ingredients and mix well until everything sticks together.
Place the mixture into a baking tray and spread it out evenly.
Bake in the oven for about 15-20 min until golden brown, mix everything frequently to make sure the top doesn’t burn.
In the meantime cut the dates into small pieces.
When you’re granola is done take it out of the oven and mix in the chia seeds, hennep seeds and small bits of dates, then leave to cool.
There you have it! You’re own home-made granola which isn’t only yummy, but it’s also super healthy and will give you a great boost in the morning. Ready to start the day!
The Secret Spot is definitely a little secret spot that you have to check out when you are in Canggu. As soon as you walk in you’ll notice it’s cosiness and the fresh atmosphere due to the green palms which are placed around the cafe. I personally love sitting outside on the roof terrace which allows you to have a look out over a lovely view while you’re drinking your coffee.
At this cafe you can always find a quiet spot to read a book in the corner or you can sit outside and enjoy the sun while playing the guitar. However, if you have a little bit of a sweet tooth then you’ll definitely fall in love with this place! The Secret Spot is specialised in frozen yoghurt! And oh my are they delicious! You can even personalise your frozen yoghurt by choosing any of the delicious toppings, so you can make it as healthy or naughty as you want.
What to have
I personally love coming for breakfast or to have a quick coffee or snack. They serve all kinds of delicious raw snacks and of course their frozen yoghurt is a lovely treat (for non-vegans). The coffee they serve here is absolutely delicious and that is why the non-vegans under us need to try the Affogato as it is out of this world. However, as I said the coffee here really is delicious and it’s definitely a good spot to come for a quick caffeine pickup!
For breakfast I personally love the Chia podwith mango compote topped with granola and strawberries. The mango compote is so refreshing as well as tangy and the granola gives a nice crunch to all the soft flavours and textures. Especially in Bali it’s amazing to start with a refreshing breakfast and this is perfect!

Days are getting longer and mornings are getting warmer, which means it’s time to whip out the fresh strawberries and create something summery to get in the spirit! Jam is a classic in any household but it usually consists of lots of sugars. This strawberry jam has no refined sugar but instead has lots of vitamins from the fresh fruit and protein which comes from the chia seeds. This means it’s a great way to start the day!
Put some on your porridge in the morning, on a cracker as a snack or even on a cheeky piece of cake or on pancakes as a topping! It’s super yummy and definitely very healthy!
250 grams fresh strawberries
3 tablespoons agave syrup
2 ½ tablespoons chia seeds
Start by placing the agave syrup and strawberries in a sauce pan and bring them to boil.
Let them simmer for about 5 min, stir regularly.
Then mash the strawberries using a fork or a potato masher.
Once the strawberries are mashed stir in the chia seeds.
Lower the heat and let it simmer for about 10-15 min, stir often.
Once the mixture starts to thicken remove from the heat and poor it in an airtight jar.
Keep the jam in the fridge and you’ll be able to enjoy it for around a week. Buon a petite!X
Waking up in Bali is never a bad way to start your day.. but to add a little more perfection to my morning routine I love a good cup of coffee. I am pretty sure I have developed a coffee addiction over time, but common, isn’t coffee the answer to everything? Stressed morning? Have a coffee. Happy morning? Celebrate with a coffee.
Apart from giving us that energy boost we need on a Monday morning it is also proven that one to two cups a day is actually very healthy! (Hallelujah!)
A few of these health benefits include that it may lower the risk of type 2 diabetes and cancer, the caffeine can help you burn fat, it protects the liver and it contains several important nutrients, including Riboflavin, Pantothenic Acid, Manganese, Potassium, Magnesium and Niacin.

However, with a good cup of coffee comes a yummy breakfast! The most important meal of the day! I am a big breakfast lover and so I love to try new places. But today I went to one of my favourite places for breakfast in Canggu, Satu Satu! I love their coffee and they make the most beautiful and delicious smoothie jugs! The chia smoothie jug is my favourite!
With our tummies satisfied and full we made our way to Old Man’s where they have a market every last Saturday of the month. They sell everything from organic granola, to beautiful jewellery, clothes and home-made cakes. There is a great atmosphere as you see surfers joining in the crowd after a surf session at the beach located a few meters away. Dogs are playing and suddenly appear rolling around from underneath the tables. The music is setting a happy vibe and people are making their way through the vibrant coloured clothes.
We made our way to the beach where we sat down and enjoyed the view of the waves being ridden by surfers. The heat was overwhelming and the sand burns your feet. So what’s better then getting cooled down by a cold fresh coconut! Lift your feet up and enjoy your Bali days!
