Nutty Chocolate overnight oats

Who doesn’t want to have chocolate for breakfast!

This nutty chocolate oat bowl is truly one of my favourite breakfasts. It’s super easy to make the night before and you only need a few ingredients to make something extremely delicious. I make it a lot late at night as it’s quick to whip up and you will definitely thank yourself the next morning! Who wouldn’t wake up with a smile knowing you are having a bowl of chocolate deliciousness for breakfast!

For one large bowl

  • 50 grams oats
  • 100 ml almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 2 teaspoons cacao
  • 1 teaspoon agave syrup
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds
  • 1 handful pecans
  • pinch of salt

  • Shredded coconut
  • Pecans
  • 1 tablespoon coconut yoghurt
  • Add granola for some extra crunch

  1. To make your base simply place all the ingredients apart from the pecans in one big bowl and stir until everything is combined.
  2. Then pour the mixture into an airtight jar and finish it off with a handful of pecans on top.
  3. Place the jar in the fridge overnight to let it set.
  4. When you are ready for breakfast the next morning simply pour your nutty chocolate oats into a bowl and top it off with a tablespoon of coconut yoghurt, pecans and some shredded coconut. You can also add some granola if you like a little crunch!

I love to serve mine in my favourite coconut bowl from Coconut Bowls for an extra tropical look! They are 100% natural, hand made and absolutely beautiful!

The best Baobab energy balls

We all need that little pick up sometimes and these Baobab energy balls are perfect for giving you a little energy boost! I have recently fallen in love with the new super fruit named Baobab. I’ve written an article about all the amazing benefits Baobab offers (click here to read it) and you’ll be surprised with the fact that we should actually be adding this to our daily diet! These energy balls have Baobab powder in them and they are full of iron and vitamin C that gives you that little boost you need!

I love making these energy balls as they are quick and easy to make and they are perfect for a healthy snack or as a pre workout! I always keep them in my fridge and as I make quite a big batch every time I can enjoy them at any time of the day and even on the go. Especially on stressful and busy days these are perfect to give you that little extra boost you need! Plus, they are super yum!

Makes 15 balls

  • 1 tablespoon Baobab (to buy the one I use click here)
  • 1 cup of medjool dates (10 dates)
  • 2 tablespoons of chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon of hennep seeds
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon of peanut/almond butter
  • 1 tablespoon raw cacao
  • 3/4 cup of almonds

  • Desiccated coconut
  • Chia seeds
  • Hennep seeds
  • Cacao powder

  1. Place the almonds in a food processor until they are fully crushed.
  2. Add all the other ingredients to the food processor and blend until it forms a sticky substance.
  3. Take a spoonful of the mixture at a time and use your hands to roll them into balls.
  4. Then roll the balls into some desiccated coconut, chia seeds, hennep seeds or cacao as a topping.
  5. Place them in the fridge for an hour to let them set. Store them in your fridge.

Done! Now you can enjoy your delicious and healthy energy boosters at any time of the day!

I always use my favourite Baobab powder from Adunawhich isn’t only the best quality, it’s also an amazing company that supports local African farmers who produce Baobab products.

My favourite beach spot – Barstarzz Bali

Canggu is full of cute beach spots and beach clubs but I recently discovered this small beach bar that I absolutely fell in love with named Barstarzz.

This spot is everything I imagined what Bali would be like! You can feel the warm sand underneath your feet as you walk towards the bar. Quickly jump on the bamboo and get welcomed by the dogs that love to hang out in the shadow underneath the trees. As you make your way to one of the beanbags you put your beach bag down and release yourself into a bag that in 1 second forms itself into the perfect bed. Put your feet up and enjoy the view.

A fresh coconut is being cut just behind you and served straight to you with just a straw stuck in it. I mean, whats more refreshing on a hot day?! However, my favourite part is when I finish the coconut, yep you read that right, when I finish it! Because the best part is yet to come! The owner of the bar will get your coconut, split it in half, and give it back to you with a spoon. Trust me, the fresh coconut meat is the most delicious thing in the world!

As you sit and enjoy the view you set your eyes on the menu which gives you a great selection of sandwiches, fruit bowls, juices, smoothies, cocktails and more. I absolute love the vegan sandwich which is made with crunchy bread, roasted vegetables and a coconut dressing. Its so simple but perfect! An amazing snack is the fresh fruit bowl which I order very often as its just a delicious selection of tropical fruit cut freshly for you at the bar. I appreciate the food so much at this place as its so honest, simple, fresh and delicious. Nothing is added, nothing is overly baked, fried or seasoned with things you can’t pronounce the name of. Its honest food made simple with love.

Barstarzz also has an open air gym which makes it perfect to have some fun but also to get a real workout done! After having done some sweating you just set a few steps towards the bar and order yourself a fresh coconut to stay hydrated!

Imagine laying underneath the tropical trees, a slight breeze blows through the leaves letting the sun sneak through. With a fresh watermelon juice in one hand and your feet in the sand. Isn’t that just a Bali dream?

I am in love with this spot and I’m sure you will fall in love with it too! You can find Barstarzz close to Finns Club on Berawa beach in Canggu and its open from 6am until 8pm. So you can stay to witness that magical Bali sunset!

The ultimate chia jug at Satu Satu – the reason why I get so excited for breakfast in Bali

Waking up in Bali is never a bad way to start your day.. but to add a little more perfection to my morning routine I love a good cup of coffee. I am pretty sure I have developed a coffee addiction over time, but common, isn’t coffee the answer to everything? Stressed morning? Have a coffee. Happy morning? Celebrate with a coffee.

Apart from giving us that energy boost we need on a Monday morning it is also proven that one to two cups a day is actually very healthy! (Hallelujah!)

A few of these health benefits include that it may lower the risk of type 2 diabetes and cancer, the caffeine can help you burn fat, it protects the liver and it contains several important nutrients, including Riboflavin, Pantothenic Acid, Manganese, Potassium, Magnesium and Niacin.

(If you are at this point of reading the article I will just give you a second to get yourself a coffee!)

However, with a good cup of coffee comes a yummy breakfast! The most important meal of the day! I am a big breakfast lover and so I love to try new places. But today I went to one of my favourite places for breakfast in Canggu, Satu Satu! I love their coffee and they make the most beautiful and delicious smoothie jugs! The chia smoothie jug is my favourite!

Chia banana smoothie jug – Satu Satu Canggu, Bali

With our tummies satisfied and full we made our way to Old Man’s where they have a market every last Saturday of the month. They sell everything from organic granola, to beautiful jewellery, clothes and home-made cakes. There is a great atmosphere as you see surfers joining in the crowd after a surf session at the beach located a few meters away. Dogs are playing and suddenly appear rolling around from underneath the tables. The music is setting a happy vibe and people are making their way through the vibrant coloured clothes.

Old Man’s market, Canggu Bali

We made our way to the beach where we sat down and enjoyed the view of the waves being ridden by surfers. The heat was overwhelming and the sand burns your feet. So what’s better then getting cooled down by a cold fresh coconut! Lift your feet up and enjoy your Bali days!
