Cappuccino in the most picturesque square in Como – Posta Bistrot

When in Italy you’ll start your day with a cappuccino and end the day with an espresso to help digest dinner. Its that exact Italian routine that I find so charming. Taking that moment to either sit down (or most of the time stand at the bar) and order a coffee to then sip on and enjoy – a few moments of happiness that will keep Italians on their feet throughout the day.

However, when you are in Como and you do want to take the time to enjoy a moment of happiness by sipping on a coffee – then you have to go to Posta Bistrot where they serve one of my favourite cappuccino’s in the whole of Como.

Posta Bistrot is located on the most picturesque square right in the centre. They have a lovely interior however my spot is to sit outside on the terrace. Just imagine sitting under the shadow of the tree that grew its way through the wooden floor, feel the warm breeze on your skin, watching people walk by whilst sipping on your delicious and most flavoursome cup of coffee. I mean, a moment of pure happiness right?

What to have

The coffee of course! The espresso you get here is the most perfect espresso you will ever taste. This really is what a true espresso is supposed to taste like. Full of flavour, not watery, not bitter, just pure and short – simply amazing. However, in the morning or even in the afternoon a cappuccino is a must have, and they are absolutely amazing here. I always order a Soya Cappuccino which is truly out of this world. Smooth, full of deep flavours, no sugar needed as its slightly sweet of its own, but the coffee still overpowers the milk which makes the balance of flavours perfect.

For the non-vegans they serve all kinds of delicious daily made cakes, muffins and biscotti which you can dip in your coffee if you like!

Where to go

You can find this cute cafe in Piazza Alessandro Volta in Como and their opening times are 7am-10pm.

I honestly recommend you to stop here for a quick coffee or to enjoy some time on the terrace. Its a lovely spot – which is also great for an afternoon aperitivo!

My Healthy and Simple Morning Routine

My morning routine is pretty simple. But it’s the morning which will effect your whole day.

I usually wake up from the smell of freshly made coffee coming from the kitchen. I have always been surrounded by coffee lovers even since I was small. (I used to drink Bamboo coffee as I didn’t want to miss out on something everyone was so obsessed about).

If I’m lucky il even get a coffee shoved underneath my nose and il wake up from the smell of golden delight. To me that’s the best alarm clock in the world, want to wake me up quickly and smiling than this is THE way to say good morning!

Before drinking my coffee though I try to drink 2 glasses of room temperature water with squeezed lemon. It’s the best way to wake up and cleanse your body first thing in the morning. (It’s also great for when you are on a diet as it helps shrink your tummy).

While sipping on my coffee I love to get some work done while still being comfortable in bed. It’s the perfect time for me to write some articles or reply to emails.

After a bit of work and coffee in bed I get up, and I make my bed. I know, I seem like such a good girl. But it’s actually psychologically very good for you. As this is the first task of your day, and you have finished it. Psychologically you feel like you have accomplished a task and this will help you finish every other task through the day.

I’m that kind of person that doesn’t always feel extremely energetic in the morning, I like to stretch and take it easy as I’m sipping on my coffee. So I like to have a wake-up call. That’s usually in the form of a shower ending with a few minutes of freezing water. This is great to wake up your entire body, helps improve your immunity and circulation and even stimulates weight loss. However, if I have a huge lake in front of my house (like I do in Switzerland) then I prefer going for a cold dip! It’s therapeutic, and it definitely wakes me up!

Then it’s time for my favourite meal of the day, BREAKFAST! You can click here to see all the delicious recipe’s I love to make in the morning! Breakfast is so important and you can get your imagination going! Also, breakfast is the time where you don’t have to feel guilty about adding chocolate to your meal as you’ll be burning it off during the day. Woohoo!! (Secretly that’s why it’s my favourite meal of the day!)

Coffeelab – the trendiest coffee spot with the most delicious cappuccino

Who doesn’t love walking through the city on an early morning with the sun in your face while you walk towards your favourite cafe to get a fresh cup of coffee. I mean, does it get any better than that? I love Eindhoven not only because its my home-town, but also because its a city that represents a typical Dutch atmosphere. Here you actually walk over the street while saying good morning to strangers, say “bless-you” to someone who sneezed but you’ve never seen before. Everyone is on a bicycle or walking and seem to take their time, enjoying the sun, because there is no rush. We take our time to have our sweet breakfast, to cycle to work and stop along the way to get our favourite coffee.

One of my favourite places to grab my morning coffee is at Coffeelab.

When I first came to Coffeelab I immediately felt comfortable. Fresh green plants cover the ceiling and a warm atmosphere is created by the wooden interior and the smell of freshly made coffee and croissants. It’s a place where you feel at home.

What I get

That’s not a hard choice right?! Coffee of course! They roast their own coffee which is a blend made with 70% Brazilian beans and the remaining 30% originates from various other African countries. The coffee has a delicious sweet and fruity taste and its not at all bitter nor watery – an absolute winner for me!

I usually get a Cappuccino (2.80 Euro) with almond or oat milk. But they also offer coconut and soy milk – plenty to choose from!

They also make fresh snacks or if you feel like something fresh you’re also at the right address! They have various delicious smoothies which are made with 100% biological ingredients. My favourite is ‘Lovely Green‘ (4.95 Euro) which is made with spinach, avocado, appel, broccoli, mango, spirulina, wheatgrass and barley grass. For those who prefer the pink smoothies then the ‘Berry Bomb‘ is the perfect choice! This smoothie is made with acai, blueberry, blackberry, banana, strawberry, apple, hennep protein and Baobab. It’s deliciously sweet but still super healthy! Win win!

Where to go

Coffeelab is open everyday  from Monday to Friday it’s open from 7am-7pm, on Saturday 9am-7pm and on Sunday 10am-7pm. The address is Stationsplein 17, 5611 AC Eindhoven.

Enjoy!

Denf Coffee – favourite coffee in Eindhoven

A good coffee can make any day better. I’m sure I’m not the only one who enjoys turning the coffee machine on in the morning, longing for the sound of coffee beans to be pressed together and heated which releases that unique aromatic smell that will make any morning a happy one.

When I’m at home in Eindhoven there are a few places I love going to for a delicious cup of coffee. I’m in love with cafe’s and always tend to work best when I’m surrounded by people and of course, enough coffee to get me through the day. One of my favourite spots where the moment you walk in you can already smell freshly made coffee is at Denf.

They have their own coffee roastery right there in the cafe. You can hear the coffee beans being made to perfection so that you can enjoy the freshest cup of coffee right there on the spot.

The atmosphere is amazing and on a sunny day you can enjoy your cup of coffee outside on the terrace. That’s also the exact spot where you’ll find me! It’s also a great cafe to get your laptop out and do some work. With lots of plugs around the cafe they are extremely work-environment friendly. There is a great mood at this cafe and I also have to say, the person that handles the music, you’re taste is divine – hand me your playlist!

What I love

What I love? The coffee! The almond cappuccino has a delicious nutty taste, the coconut macchiato is smooth and extremely flavoursome and the soya cappuccino is a classic! However, the real test to find out how good the coffee really is, is by drinking an espresso. And let me tell you, the espresso is flavoursome, dark of taste but not at all bitter. It’s very short and not at all watery. You can really taste the fact that they know what they are doing, and that is making some kick-ass coffee.

Where to go

Denf is open from Monday to Saturday from 8am-6pm, and on Saturday from 9am-6pm. The address is Clausplein 4, 5611 XP Eindhoven.

If you don’t have much time just pop by and get a take-away coffee, trust me, it’ll be worth it!

Jikaa cafe – Breakfast heaven in between the peaceful rice fields of Canggu, Bali

Waking up with a freshly made smoothie bowl and a nutty coffee is all you want when you’re living the Bali life. And there is no better place to get a quiet spot at Jikaa on an early morning.

Jikaa is a lovely cafe that’s hidden in-between the rice fields in Canggu. Place yourself onto the comfy couch with a book in your hands and enjoy a quiet moment while the smell of freshly grounded coffee creeps up your nose. For me it’s these moments that make me smile from ear to ear and leaves me feeling mellow and happy. It’s the perfect place to get a quiet piece of mind and enjoy some peaceful time.

Personally I’m a huge coffee freak and I can honestly say that Jikaa has one of the best cappuccino’s in Canggu. The moment you walk in you can already smell the coffee beans,  the sound of milk being steamed and cups clinking together fills the room and it automatically makes you crave a coffee. And these cravings are always rewarded with the most delicious cappuccino!

What to order

First things first, a delicious soya cappuccino! This coffee is perfect in strength and the milk doesn’t overpower the delicious coffee taste. After every sip you’ll notice the nutty after taste which gives it its unique flavour. Its soft, yet full of flavour.

The ‘Namaste’ smoothie bowl (48k Idr/ 2.50 Gbp) is one of my favourites and a must try for all the green lovers! It consists of spinach, kale, avocado, strawberry and banana and its topped with sea salt granola, dried coconut and mixed fruit. Its fruity, honest and absolutely delicious.

Where to go

Jikaa is open from Monday until Saturday from 7.30am – 5pm and it’s located on Jl. Pantai Berawa No.1a in Canggu, Bali.

It’s the perfect breakfast spot for any breakfast lover as well as a coffee freak like me!

Veganlicious breakfasts at Le Pain Quotidien in London

I am truly in love with London and my favourite part of the day is to wake up and have breakfast in one of the many cosy breakfast cafes. There is something about how the morning light shines through the streets and bounces of building windows. The smell of burning wood and the strong cold air fills your nose. I love London in the winter as all everyone wants to do is rush into warm cafes and warm your hands with a hot coffee or hot chocolate. Add a comforting chocolate cake on the side and enjoy the company of fellow Londoners as you talk about how the snow will make the city panic yet again.

One of my favourite spots to enjoy a warm cup of coffee on these cold mornings is at Le Pain QuotidienHere I can always find the coziness that I am looking for as well as a breakfast that puts a smile on my face.

As soon as you walk in you can smell the scent of coffee and freshly made croissants. The sound of the coffee machine creates a comforting noise in the background and you can’t help but stare at all the delicious pastries that are laid out on the counter. Your heart will convince you to order a pastry with your coffee as there is no way you can resist the amazing smell. But trust me, you will not regret a single bite as everything they bake here is comforting, fresh and delicious.

Almost everything they serve here is made with organic ingredients and is locally sourced from farmers. The menu is full of deliciousness including detox breakfasts, fresh juices, power porridge, fresh breads, cakes and much more. You can also buy the freshly made bread, pastries and cakes to take home with you – that is if you make it that far without eating it.

What I love

I always start my day with a coffee and my daily order at Le Pain Quotidien is a delicious almond milk cappuccino. Then I love to dip a freshly made almond croissant in my hot coffee as to me this is a match made in heaven. A combination you can wake me up for any day!

For brunch I love getting avocado on toast. However at Le Pain Quotidien they serve this classic with a hint of other flavours and textures. Smooth avocado is smashed on home-made rustic bread topped with seeds, beetroot, fennel, carrot, citrus cumin salt, lemon juice and olive oil (8.45 gbp). This plate has so much flavour and the crunchy seeds go perfectly with the smoothness of the avocado.

On a cold day its always nice to enjoy a comforting moment of a coffee accompanied by a delicious piece of cake – the perfect way to warm up! My absolute favourite cake of all time happens to be the winner of 2016 Best Vegan Cake Award by Peta and its made by Le Pain Quotidien. This ‘Cacao and Pear cake’ is smooth from the inside and a little chewy on the outside. The dark cacao has a deep flavour but when you get a taste of the sweet and soft pear inside a whole other flavour explodes in your mouth. Its a dance of deep and comforting flavours together with firm pear and smooth chocolate. It really is award standard and I genuinely cannot get enough of it.

Where to go

Le Pain Quotidien has many cafes located in different cities in the world such as LA, Paris, New York and London. However, the spot I mentioned in this article and also my favourite in London is located on 18 Great Marlborough St in Soho. They are open on Monday to Friday from 7am – 10pm. On Saturday they are open at 8.30am – 10pm and on Sunday 9am – 7pm.

So you can enjoy a delicious vegan cappuccino with the best vegan cake at anytime of the day! Because we all know the rule: If its vegan we can stuff ourselves with it and not feel guilty! Right guys?
