A trendy spot serving the most exciting dishes in the city: MOOD, Eindhoven

MOOD is a popular restaurant in the middle of Eindhoven’s city centre. It’s designed beautifully and even though it has it’s modern look the vibes are extremely cosy, classy and trendy. It has an amazing atmosphere and from the moment you sit down you feel like you are in for a treat. Even though the inside of this restaurant is amazing, I love to sit on their buzzy terrace especially in the summer. Imagine a warm summer evening with some friends, sitting outside with a glass of wine and the most exciting dinner spread out for you on the table. For me, this is one of the most lively and exciting spots in the city where the atmosphere isn’t only inviting, the food is also absolutely delicious!

What to have

The menu here is irresistible – this counts for both non-vegans and vegans. The food they serve is a combination of French and Asian cuisine. It’s extremely vibrant, colourful and a little experimental at some points.

I love to start with a little picking and the perfect dish to place in the middle of the table are Edamame (€4,50/£4). Its a great dish to share and they are super delicious and very healthy, win win!

After some picking the real feast begins. I am personally in love with the Vegetarian sushiroll (€13.50/£12). They make this sushi roll colourful and extremely exciting as it’s full of flavours and textures. It’s beautifully presented on a plate and every bite is an explosion of flavours. The roll is made with asperges, (tamago for vegetarians), cucumber and avocado. It’s slightly sweet and refreshing at the same time. This is my ultimate favourite dish that I recommend to anyone!

As a side dish or even as a main for lunch or dinner I love getting the Thai mango salad (€8,50/£7.50). It consists of sweet and spicy avocado, cucumber, quinoa, and mango. It has lots of colours and flavours and it’s extremely refreshing – which is amazing especially in the summer.

Some days you have to be lucky to get the king of desserts. Because sometimes they make THE most delicious chocolate brownie I have ever tasted. This brownie tastes like everything you have ever dreamed off. It’s gooey from the inside and the outside layer is slightly crispy. It’s presented like art on a plate surrounded by strawberry sauce and fresh strawberries. The combination of the rich chocolate and the fresh strawberries is so powerful and extremely delicious. Trust me, this brownie overrules any vegan and non-vegan brownies, it’s THAT good.

Where to go

MOOD is open from Monday to Saturday at 12:00 – 23:00 and on Sunday from 14:00 – 23:00. They are located on Keizersgracht 6 in Eindhoven.

On weekends I highly suggest you book a table as it get’s very busy.

I’m sure you’ll fall in love with this spot just as much as I did! Bon a petit!

Fresh bagels and juice at the ultimate breakfast spot – Bagel & Juice

Bagel & Juice is one of my favourite spots in Eindhoven. I love going here for breakfast, lunch or have a quick bagel to go. It’s an amazing spot where you can sit outside and overlook one of the cosiest streets in the whole city. It has a lovely and welcoming atmosphere and of course, most important of all, they make THE best bagels!

What to have

The Force Juice (S €4.25/£3.70, L €5.75/£5) is the ultimate green juice that will make you feel fresh and amazing! It consists of spinach, mint, lime, kiwi and orange which adds a little sweetness. Perfect for a clean morning juice to wake up feeling great!

For breakfast or lunch I absolutely love the ‘Vega Bagel(€5.20/£4.50)This bagel consist of hummus, avocado, rucola, tomato, red onion and sunflower seeds. You can choose between different types of bagels such as wholegrain, sesame, sun-dried tomato or cinnamon raisin (which are perfect for the more sweet bagel lovers). However, I always order this bagel with the multigrain bread. I love how crispy and full of flavour it is. The smooth avocado and hummus combined with the crispy rucola and sunflower seeds is the ultimate combination of textures. I always love how vegan food is a combination of interesting flavours and this bagel represents that perfectly!

While eating my bagel I always love to have a ‘fresh grapefruit juice’ (S €3.75/£3.30, L €4.95/£4.30). Even though some people think its a little bitter I think it has a delicious flavour and I love how refreshing it is. It also has a lot of health benefits including that it helps you digest (perfect for after lunch) and it has a lot less sugar than normal orange juice!

Where to go

Bagel & Juice is open everyday from 8am – 6pm and its address is Kleine Berg 19 in Eindhoven.

I’m sure you will love this spot just as much as I do! Make sure to sit outside, grab some sunshine and enjoy a fresh juice, bagel and finish of with a delicious coffee! It’s both the perfect breakfast and lunch! Enjoy!

Coffeelab – the trendiest coffee spot with the most delicious cappuccino

Who doesn’t love walking through the city on an early morning with the sun in your face while you walk towards your favourite cafe to get a fresh cup of coffee. I mean, does it get any better than that? I love Eindhoven not only because its my home-town, but also because its a city that represents a typical Dutch atmosphere. Here you actually walk over the street while saying good morning to strangers, say “bless-you” to someone who sneezed but you’ve never seen before. Everyone is on a bicycle or walking and seem to take their time, enjoying the sun, because there is no rush. We take our time to have our sweet breakfast, to cycle to work and stop along the way to get our favourite coffee.

One of my favourite places to grab my morning coffee is at Coffeelab.

When I first came to Coffeelab I immediately felt comfortable. Fresh green plants cover the ceiling and a warm atmosphere is created by the wooden interior and the smell of freshly made coffee and croissants. It’s a place where you feel at home.

What I get

That’s not a hard choice right?! Coffee of course! They roast their own coffee which is a blend made with 70% Brazilian beans and the remaining 30% originates from various other African countries. The coffee has a delicious sweet and fruity taste and its not at all bitter nor watery – an absolute winner for me!

I usually get a Cappuccino (2.80 Euro) with almond or oat milk. But they also offer coconut and soy milk – plenty to choose from!

They also make fresh snacks or if you feel like something fresh you’re also at the right address! They have various delicious smoothies which are made with 100% biological ingredients. My favourite is ‘Lovely Green‘ (4.95 Euro) which is made with spinach, avocado, appel, broccoli, mango, spirulina, wheatgrass and barley grass. For those who prefer the pink smoothies then the ‘Berry Bomb‘ is the perfect choice! This smoothie is made with acai, blueberry, blackberry, banana, strawberry, apple, hennep protein and Baobab. It’s deliciously sweet but still super healthy! Win win!

Where to go

Coffeelab is open everyday  from Monday to Friday it’s open from 7am-7pm, on Saturday 9am-7pm and on Sunday 10am-7pm. The address is Stationsplein 17, 5611 AC Eindhoven.

Denf Coffee – favourite coffee in Eindhoven

A good coffee can make any day better. I’m sure I’m not the only one who enjoys turning the coffee machine on in the morning, longing for the sound of coffee beans to be pressed together and heated which releases that unique aromatic smell that will make any morning a happy one.

When I’m at home in Eindhoven there are a few places I love going to for a delicious cup of coffee. I’m in love with cafe’s and always tend to work best when I’m surrounded by people and of course, enough coffee to get me through the day. One of my favourite spots where the moment you walk in you can already smell freshly made coffee is at Denf.

They have their own coffee roastery right there in the cafe. You can hear the coffee beans being made to perfection so that you can enjoy the freshest cup of coffee right there on the spot.

The atmosphere is amazing and on a sunny day you can enjoy your cup of coffee outside on the terrace. That’s also the exact spot where you’ll find me! It’s also a great cafe to get your laptop out and do some work. With lots of plugs around the cafe they are extremely work-environment friendly. There is a great mood at this cafe and I also have to say, the person that handles the music, you’re taste is divine – hand me your playlist!

What I love

What I love? The coffee! The almond cappuccino has a delicious nutty taste, the coconut macchiato is smooth and extremely flavoursome and the soya cappuccino is a classic! However, the real test to find out how good the coffee really is, is by drinking an espresso. And let me tell you, the espresso is flavoursome, dark of taste but not at all bitter. It’s very short and not at all watery. You can really taste the fact that they know what they are doing, and that is making some kick-ass coffee.

Where to go

Denf is open from Monday to Saturday from 8am-6pm, and on Saturday from 9am-6pm. The address is Clausplein 4, 5611 XP Eindhoven.

If you don’t have much time just pop by and get a take-away coffee, trust me, it’ll be worth it!
