My Healthy and Simple Morning Routine

My morning routine is pretty simple. But it’s the morning which will effect your whole day.

I usually wake up from the smell of freshly made coffee coming from the kitchen. I have always been surrounded by coffee lovers even since I was small. (I used to drink Bamboo coffee as I didn’t want to miss out on something everyone was so obsessed about).

If I’m lucky il even get a coffee shoved underneath my nose and il wake up from the smell of golden delight. To me that’s the best alarm clock in the world, want to wake me up quickly and smiling than this is THE way to say good morning!

Before drinking my coffee though I try to drink 2 glasses of room temperature water with squeezed lemon. It’s the best way to wake up and cleanse your body first thing in the morning. (It’s also great for when you are on a diet as it helps shrink your tummy).

While sipping on my coffee I love to get some work done while still being comfortable in bed. It’s the perfect time for me to write some articles or reply to emails.

After a bit of work and coffee in bed I get up, and I make my bed. I know, I seem like such a good girl. But it’s actually psychologically very good for you. As this is the first task of your day, and you have finished it. Psychologically you feel like you have accomplished a task and this will help you finish every other task through the day.

I’m that kind of person that doesn’t always feel extremely energetic in the morning, I like to stretch and take it easy as I’m sipping on my coffee. So I like to have a wake-up call. That’s usually in the form of a shower ending with a few minutes of freezing water. This is great to wake up your entire body, helps improve your immunity and circulation and even stimulates weight loss. However, if I have a huge lake in front of my house (like I do in Switzerland) then I prefer going for a cold dip! It’s therapeutic, and it definitely wakes me up!

Then it’s time for my favourite meal of the day, BREAKFAST! You can click here to see all the delicious recipe’s I love to make in the morning! Breakfast is so important and you can get your imagination going! Also, breakfast is the time where you don’t have to feel guilty about adding chocolate to your meal as you’ll be burning it off during the day. Woohoo!! (Secretly that’s why it’s my favourite meal of the day!)

Canals in Amsterdam are frozen and making your way around town has never been so fun

As if the streets of Amsterdam could become any more beautiful.

Here I am standing on the crackling ice surrounded by the most beautiful architecture. Children chasing each other on the ice as they slip around the corner. As I take a deep breath the cold air creeps up my nose and cuts as a knife. Its a beautiful sight and feeling that I rarely experience in the month of March when in Amsterdam.

The last time we were able to make our way trough town on ice-skates was in 2012. Now we are so lucky to set eyes on this magical sight yet again. Its a winter wonderland that we don’t get to experience often and its dreamy!

At sunrise the early birds make their way on the ice and take advantage of this rare spectacle. Several nights ago the temperate dropped to -15c creating a thick layer of ice. But you’ll have to be quick as the sun is coming out and nights are no longer cold enough to make the ice thicker. So get your ice-skates out and get your moves on the ice because this is something you might not witness for a very long time!

Getting lost in Bali’s Tegalalang Rice Terraces

When wondering through Bali its not hard to get lost in all its rice fields and terraces but there is one in particular that is a must to get lost in. The Tegalalang Rice terraces will leave you breathless from the moment you set eye upon it. As I walked down the hill more and more depth seemed to appear through the palms. The landscape is stunning and you can have the most amazing hike up the rice terraces.

The higher you get the more stunning the view becomes. From endless rice terraces and palm trees to getting lost in the jungle, you will absolute love the whole experience.

Tip:

When walking through the terraces you may get stopped a few times by locals claiming that you need to pay to continue walking through the fields. However this is not true, you don’t have to pay anything – they are just trying to get some money. The only time you will have to make a donation is at the first stop after about 5 min into your walk. Here you will find a barrier and someone asking you to pay a donation.

Also, the landscape is beautiful but very rocky and muddy at some points so make sure to wear some comfortable shoes.

How to find it

You can visit the Tegalalang rice terraces every day from 7am until 7pm and the address is Jalan Tegallalang, Tegallalang, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali. On a good day its only about a 15 min bike or car ride from Ubud centre (depending on traffic).

Spending Ferragosto in the mountains of Cancano

So there we were driving up the mountain, turn by turn, climbing higher and higher. The higher we got the more snow was seen on the tops of the mountains. Its something special being in the mountains in the summer. Its warm, you are swimming in the lake, yet you see the snow in the distance.

It was a special day in Italy! Ferragosto! A day to spend with friends and celebrate the summer! And whats is a better place to celebrate the summer than in nature, with friends, in the sun, fooling around, eating, drinking, smoking, laughing and talking.  But we decided not to go to any place in nature, a special day calls for a special place, and we found it.

From St-Moritz we made our way to the cutest mountain town named Bormio. After  a little break with a focaccia and the most delicious coffee we got back on track and started our climb up the mountains to Cancano.

Now, these mountains are something special. You look up and you feel so small, so overpowered by nature, its amazing. You look down over the edge and see the most turquoise water you have ever seen. No really, EVER. This landscape is one of the most impressive, and memorable landscapes I have ever seen. The landscape is white from the rocks, vibrant green from the trees and turquoise from the sky to the water.

We drove up, parked the car, and hiked our way up even more until we reached the most beautiful spot. There we sat down at a wooden hut where they made us traditional home made mountain food, cooked by local mountain people themselves. You could taste the rawness and the passion for nature and food in every bite you took. With no phone signal, cow bells ringing in the background, comforting raw food, amazing people and breathtaking views, it was the perfect day.

Road trip from Normandy to Holland

In Deauville every sunset is more beautiful than the last. The colours appear more vibrant, and the sky seems more clear. But once in a while you get a special sunset. One with thunder and rain. Heavy clouds surrounded by vibrant colours. Light shines through the rain onto the water. A perfect rain storm.

IMG_0167IMG_0182

I believe that when the sunsets its a magical moment, a golden moment. I can never stop staring until you finally see that moment where the sun only takes seconds to disappear behind the wall of sea. But this time I have to leave the perfect storm behind, and leave for another adventure. The next few days will include a lot of travelling! To some beautiful places! My next stop? Holland!

And what is a more beautiful road trip than travelling from Normandy to Holland? Both countries have the most magical landscapes. – The trip might take a little longer as I will be stopping every 5 min to take a picture..

So there I go, ready to take on another day, another adventure, another beautiful sunset.

The best view in Lugano

I sat down, and looked at the beautiful view right in front of me. The house located only meters away from the water. The palm trees swinging making a rustling sound in the wind. But then I realised, why enjoy this beautiful view just from one aspect. Thats when we decided to get the bike and have a drive around and see where our curiosity would take us. With the beautiful hills on our right and the lake on our left we followed the road until we had to stop and take in the beauty of the view that was in front of us.

We sat down and allowed ourselves to get enchanted by natures beauty. Lugano is an amazing place. You can go from spending your day at the water to having hikes in the woods high up the mountain. – You can hike for hours and you will never get bored of the views, trust me. I definitely recommend you to go and visit this beautiful place, it is unique and has its secret spots that you definitely need to see. There are so many activities too. Go visit the centre and do some shopping, spend your day at one of the cutest beaches, hire a boat and explore the water, hike in the extremely beautiful woods or spoil yourself at one of the amazing restaurants. – After a few of their delicious coffees you might fit everything in one day! It is the perfect place. I’m sure you will love it too.

My next post will be about my next destination, which you would know about already if you follow me on Instagram! – However, for you that don’t know… surprise surprise!! Lets just say, I’ll be in breakfast heaven!
