Favourite place to work in Lugano

I love working in different environments and places. I feel like it keeps my creativity and good energy flowing. So when I find myself in different locations I love searching for the perfect spots to work from! However, this is a spot where I keep coming back to when I am in Lugano. I fell in love with its atmosphere the moment I first set step on the dock.

As you sit down your cappuccino will be waiting for you. You open your laptop and take a sip of your delicious coffee while replying to your emails. You can feel your seat moving slightly up and down as waves crash against the dock. When you decide that you are getting too hot and need some refreshment just get undressed and take a dive into the cold lake. As you climb back on the dock you look back and look over the beautiful lake with the mountains in the background. It’s mind blowing, honestly the best place to spend your day working or just to enjoy a relaxed day in the sun!

Road trip from Normandy to Holland

In Deauville every sunset is more beautiful than the last. The colours appear more vibrant, and the sky seems more clear. But once in a while you get a special sunset. One with thunder and rain. Heavy clouds surrounded by vibrant colours. Light shines through the rain onto the water. A perfect rain storm.

I believe that when the sunsets its a magical moment, a golden moment. I can never stop staring until you finally see that moment where the sun only takes seconds to disappear behind the wall of sea. But this time I have to leave the perfect storm behind, and leave for another adventure. The next few days will include a lot of travelling! To some beautiful places! My next stop? Holland!

And what is a more beautiful road trip than travelling from Normandy to Holland? Both countries have the most magical landscapes. – The trip might take a little longer as I will be stopping every 5 min to take a picture..

So there I go, ready to take on another day, another adventure, another beautiful sunset.

From London to Milan

Early mornings need many early coffee’s and yesterday was definitely one of those early mornings! With the suitcases in our hand we stroll around Fulham Road towards a little cafe named Muni. I will be forever in love with their coffee! If you have read my article about this amazing little cafe you will definitely understand why!

Muni Cafe , Fulham Road.

While taking the last sip of my coffee we stood up and got ourselves together to make our way to the airport. My next coffee was going to be in the country where espresso’s are a way of life, a holy grail that everyone gets a taste of every single day. Soon I would be drinking my coffee while overlooking the lake of Como and Lugano!

As the doors of the plane open you could feel the warmth on your skin. The air is tight and hot, how I have missed those summer nights. I’m glad to be spending my next few days breathing in the warm air, diving into the cold lake. Feeling the hot sun burn on your skin while eating the best home-made ice-cream in a small street next to the lake overlooking the boats as they go past.

Como is definitely a place to visit when you are in love with Italy as much as I am. It has the prettiest roads to get lost in. The best ice-cream places scattered all over the place. The most beautiful views as you eat your fresh pasta and finish with a delicious coffee. You can feel the vibe, the atmosphere is relaxed and flowing. The heat keeps everyone mellow. The coffee keeps everyone busy. The food keeps everyone happy. And the views keeps everyone smiling. Especially compared to London, I feel that people here live a much happier life. – But lets be honest, how could you not be happy here! London is beautiful don’t get me wrong, but people end up living a much more stressful life. (Even I got caught up in the lifestyle) When was the last time you didn’t had to risk your life by crossing the street? When was the last time you sat down with a pasta and a glass of wine and really, but really tasted every single bite and took your time to enjoy the flavours? In Italy you almost get pressured by the waiter to talk about how good your food really was, and if you didn’t finish your plate they ask “why?”, “did you not like it?”, “ARE YOU OK?” People really live in the moment. And I believe that this is extremely important in life. That is when you are at our happiest.

So for the next few days I will be exploring the different roads, the lakes, the cafes, everything that makes a true Italian happy. – And what will probably make me so happy that I will end up staying here. ( I could fit right in right? Blue eyes, caramel skin, dark hair, not too tall of length.. let me just put on my lace navy Dolce & Gabbana dress while I sip on my espresso and ill just secretly blend in..) Allora.. ciao tutti, a domani! Tanti Bacci!

Next stop: Iceland!

Stepping out of the airplane, breathing in the sharp cold air. We finally arrived! The flight with Wow Air was smooth and comfortable. I have to say that my first thoughts when entering the plane were clean, spacious and bright! When flying to Iceland I definitely advice you to pay a little more just to make sure you have a window seat, because wow, (I now understand why they called it Wow Air) the view is amazing! – You will already fall in love with Iceland even before you arrive!

Arriving at Keflavík International Airport

We decided to hire a small camper van from a company named Kuku Campers. They picked us up from the airport and after a short drive of about 30 min we arrived at their office to pick up our van! They were super organised and helpful with any questions we had! They gave us the keys, a map and a discount card – which can be used at gas stations OB and Olis for discount on fuel, free wifi and a free coffee at every visit! (Those free coffees are definitely appreciated during long road trips!!)

So there we were! About to start the adventure we have been waiting for!!

We got the keys and decided that our first stop was going to be just down the road! With our stomachs making whale sounds we asked the people at Kuku Campers what the best supermarket would be to get our food and essentials from and they advised a store called Bonus.

We quickly found the prices in Iceland to be very high compared to the prices in the Uk. However, the average income in Iceland is almost double compared to the Uk, which explains the prices. Nevertheless, in Bonus they have a large variety of food – which can also be easily stored! (I strictly advise you to store food as you aren’t going to find many supermarkets throughout your trip if you are planning to do a road trip around Iceland like we did!) Also make sure to fuel up every time you see a gas station! You never know when the next one will show up! – Also, very important, make sure to store enough pots of Skyr!! Best breakfast/snack EVER!!!

So after having stuffed ourselves with Skyr and filled our car with fuel and food we finally got on the road and started our trip!

Starting to drive towards the south of the island you find that every turn you take the landscape becomes more and more beautiful. When following the main roads there are plenty of roadsigns indicating possible points of interests to explore!

Gullfoss waterfall

On our first day we decided to stop at the stunning waterfall named Gullfoss!

The breathtaking view and the incredible force coming from the water clashing down the rocks makes a huge impact. The moment you step out of your car you can feel drops of water flowing through the air being carried by the wind. You follow the stream, look over the side of the rocks and feel smaller and smaller. You really feel that nature is much greater and stronger then you have ever felt. This feeling, of being small and weak compared to nature and its breathtaking forms and force is a feeling you will experience many times while in Iceland, believe me.

After a long and beautiful hike following the stream of the Gullfoss waterfall we got back on the road and experienced one of the many beautiful sunsets of Iceland. At this time of year (May) the sun sets at around 11.1, but it never actually gets fully dark. So get ready to give your biological clock a good shake up!
