Quinoa doesn’t only make a great lunch or dinner, its also an amazing breakfast! This quinoa porridge gives you an amazing energy boost to make sure you get your day started in the best way you possible can! It’s full of protein and fiber and it has a slow energy release, making you also feel full for longer!
On top of all this, it tastes absolutely amazing! Win win! It has a deliciously creamy texture and the crunchy nuts give it lots of flavour! The best way to start an energetic day with a smile!
50 grams quinoa
150 ml almond milk
tablespoon agave syrup
tablespoon rasped coconut
small hand full cashews

Combine the milk and quinoa in a saucepan and bring to a boil – stir it once in a while. Then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 15 minutes until most of the milk has been absorbed.
Stir in the agave syrup and pour the mixture into a bowl.
Sprinkle the rasped coconut and add a spoonful of almond butter on top.
Break the cashews into smaller pieces and cut the strawberries into small slices, add these as a finishing touch!
Your sleepy eyes slowly open, your are comfortable. That feeling you get when waking up in a warm cosy bed hasn’t left your mind yet. A breeze flows through your hair as you take your first sip of hot coffee. It warms you up inside and leaves you speechless for a second as you enjoy that first sip full of flavour. For me, this is a moment of pure happiness.
Since I moved to Canggu in Bali I have been looking for the perfect cup of coffee to create these moments of happiness every morning. After many cups in many different cafes I have finally found the cafe that never lets me down and always leaves me in my coffee dreamland.
Welcome to Satu Satu, my little piece of coffee heaven.
Satu Satuis a cute cafe in which you feel cosy the moment you walk in. The smell of freshly baked croissants and grounded coffee fills the air. Apart for the coffee I also absolutely love going for breakfast here. My two favourite meals are the ‘Banana chia jug’ (40k Idr/ 2.10 pounds) and the ‘Satu Satu style porridge’ (40k Idr/ 2.10 pounds).
Both meals are the ultimate breakfasts to have on any day. Full of delicious goodness to keep you energised! The ‘Banana Chia Jug’ is made with a papaya smoothie, banana, chia seeds and topped with coconut and granola. Its fresh, healthy and delicious!
The ‘Satu Satu style porridge’ is made from oatmeal, quinoa, chia seeds, banana and coconut milk topped with fresh fruit, granola and served with caramelised banana. Honestly every spoonful is an explosion of flavours. Its also an extremely healthy start of the day and this meal will keep you energised and full throughout the morning.
Now, about their coffee. At Satu Satuthey make their own coconut milk which is absolutely delicious. I found that many cafes in Canggu use a very oily coconut milk, which I am not a fan off. It overpowers the coffee taste and leaves an oily after taste. However, when coconut milk is home-made it usually is amazing. Perfect for a cappuccino! If you are a coffee lover like I am then you will be happy to hear that they offer 3 different cup sizes here – small, medium and LARGE! (For those Monday mornings)
My regular is a large cappuccino with coconut milk and it fulfils my coffee dreams every time! The coffee itself is full of flavour. Its rich and smooth. Its not bitter but has a little sweet after taste. Unlike usual Bali coffee its not watery at all and actually has rather strong flavours. Mix it with some milk, especially their freshly home-made coconut milk and you have yourself a match made in heaven!
I definitely recommend you to visit Satu Satufor breakfast, lunch or go by for a snack and a coffee!
Who wouldn’t like to be sitting in-between palm leaves while enjoying a tropical smoothie bowl!
The Loft is a cosy cafe in which you can sink into a couch and put your feet up. I recently went for the first time and I loved it.
For breakfast I ordered the ‘Quinoa porridge’ and a ‘Not so green’ smoothie bowl. The ‘Quinoa porridge’ (75k Idr) had a lot of texture and was full of fresh and sweet flavours. Definitely not your average porridge! The ‘Not so green’ smoothie bowl’ (75k Idr) lives up to its name. It indeed did not taste green at all – even though it does have avocado and spinach in it. Nevertheless, its the powerful mango flavour that overpowers! Which makes the bowl fruity and fresh. Its smooth, not icy, not lumpy and the toppings are the perfect selection of fruit, coconut and delicious crunchy granola! They have lots of different smoothie bowls and the menu is full with interesting meals and drinks such as ‘Avocado latte’ and ‘Beetroot latte’.
The scenery is very open which makes the atmosphere very cosy and lively, especially in the evening. Not only is it very pretty, its also a very popular spot to be taking those Instagram shots! So Insta lovers make sure to get your phone out!
They serve early breakfast, lunch and even dinner. For dinner you must try one of their special burgers, doesn’t the ‘Matcha burger’ sound like a must try?! Like everything on their menu, you haven’t tasted anything like it before!
They are open every day from 6.30am until 11pm. So even the early birds and the surfers won’t have to worry!
