Porridge is a great breakfast as it has a ton of health benefits and it’s even proven to have a positive long term effect on your health. It will help lower your cholesterol, lowers risk of heart and lung disease and will even help improve your skin.
It’s an amazing start in the morning as it gives you tons of energy and will keep you full for a long time (which will aid in weight loss – win win!)
You can prepare porridge in lots of different ways but one I have been making a lot lately is this recipe! It has the comforting flavour of the cinnamon and syrup accompanied by the fresh and sweet flavour of banana and peach. It’s simple, super healthy and the best way to start an energetic day!
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 peach
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon chia seeds
- 1 teaspoon agave syrup
- 1 cup of water
- 1/2 cup of oats
- pinch of salt
- Mix the water, pinch of salt and the oats in a pan and leave on a medium heat for about 4-5 minutes, stir frequently until it thickens up.
- In a separate bowl squash the banana and add the chia seeds and cinnamon.
- When your porridge is nice and thick put the banana mix into the porridge and mix well.
- Poor the porridge into a bowl and top it of with cubes of peach. Then finish of by sprinkling some extra cinnamon and a teaspoon of agave syrup on top.
