Sunday market at Samadi, Bali

Its a sunny Sunday, the perfect day to be strolling around a market getting your fresh fruit and veggies! One of my favourite markets in Bali is the organic Sunday market at Samadi. The most beautiful and fresh fruit creates a rainbow of colours. The smell of sweet summer hangs in the air and you’ll see fruit that you never even know excited.

From exotic fruit and vegetables to bags full of nuts and fresh bread. This is the perfect place to stock up on some healthy deliciousness for the coming days! Here they only sell organic locally produced food by the farmers in the area.

I love going to this on Sundays as it has the perfect Sunday kind of atmosphere.  Samadi is also a yoga and wellness centre – this explains the calmness and relaxing vibe that hangs in the air. They offer yoga classes everyday and there is also an organic cafe on site. Stroll around the food stands, try on some dresses and do some jewellery shopping and then have a healthy bite to eat. To me that sounds like the perfect Sunday morning!

Samadi‘s market is on every Sunday from 9am until 14.00pm. Have some delicious breakfast or lunch or enjoy a stroll around the food, clothing and jewellery stands.

This is one of my favourite places that I’m sure you will love just as much as I do! Enjoy!

Samadi is located on Jalan Padang Linjong 39, Echo Beach, Canggu Bali.

Yoga, meditation and relaxation at the beautiful Udara resort, Bali

I recently stayed in Udara Bali resort which is a place hidden in-between the beautiful rice fields and a few meters away from the sea. Udara Bali is a healing yoga resort offering a wellness and detox lifestyle. I love going to this place for a weekend to completely zone out and get physically and mentally recharged. Its architecture will get you speechless from the moment you walk in!

Where is Udara Bali resort

I love the open space that this resort has, giving you lots of breathing space and a sense of calmness. Its located in a very quiet area called Seseh which is walking distance from Echo beach in Canggu. Before visiting Udara Bali I never even knew off this beach! This spot is a lot less touristy compared to any beach near Canggu and you are surrounded by palm trees and huge rocks which create a real Bali vibe!

What can you do at Udara Bali resort

As you are only a few meters away from the sea you can hear its waves in the background while laying in your bed. Everything gives a sense of calmness and balance. Even the architecture is in harmony. The architecture is beautiful and typically Balinese with its straw roofs, bamboo, wooden rooms and green plants. It all creates a cosy and tropical atmosphere!

The resort has different levels which are all open and have the most incredible view. On the top floor you have a great panoramic view over the sea, on this level they also practise yoga and meditation. Imagine that, you open your eyes after meditation and you set your eyes on a view over the sea and the palm trees – its dreamy. They hold different types of yoga classed such as Kundalini Meditation and Hatha Yoga. If you are interest then click here for their monthly schedule!

My favourite thing about this place is taking a swim in their swimming pool! This pool is beautifully taken care of into its last detail. Different artists made the art sculptures that surround the pool. The architecture holds hidden meanings, secret monkeys hiding in-between trees and caves surrounded by sculptures. This has to be one of the most magical pools I have ever been in!

The pool has three different types and temperatures of water. And when climbing down the rocks a sauna, steam room and meditation room are all hidden in-between the sculptures hidden inside the cave.

What can you eat at Udara Bali resort

As Udara Bali resort offers a detox lifestyle you could expect the food to be healthy and tasty. However, little did I know that I would fall in love with the chef! The food they serve is fresh, clean and full of vibrant flavours!

My favourite smoothies are both the ‘Pina Collada’ and the ‘Super green’. The ‘Pina colada’ (40k Idr/2.20 pounds) consists of pineapple, ginger, dates, coconut milk and cinnamon. Its sweet, tangy and smooth all at the same time. Perfect for an afternoon delight. The ‘Super green’ (40k Idr/2.20 pounds) consists of apple, cucumber, spinach, celery and lime. This juice is perfect for a detox  or to get a little health boost in the morning. Its extremely fresh but still has a sweet flavour taking away a little of the overly green taste making it absolutely delicious.

When looking at the food menu you notice that there are options for vegetarians, vegans and pescatarians. My favourite lunch dish and dinner dishes is the ‘Mexican quinoa wrap’ (54k Idr/ 2.90 pounds) and the ‘summer roll’ (54k Idr/2.90 pounds). The ‘Mexican quinoa wrap’ is made with black beans, quinoa, corn, guacamole, capsicum, lime and coconut yoghurt. This dish is filled with flavours, its comforting but the coconut yoghurt gives it a fresh kick. Leaving you feeling full and satisfied but still feeling like you have eaten clean and healthy food. Its perfect, crunchy, delicious, fresh, creamy and flavours dance in your mouth.

The ‘summer rolls’ is a much more fresher dish with crunchy rainbow vegetables, coriander, quinoa and peanut sauce. This dish tasted raw, fresh and delicious. Dip the rolls into the crunchy creamy peanut sauce and you have yourself a mouth full of delicious goodness.

You can enjoy their great food for breakfast, lunch and dinner as they have a restaurant open at all time. There is also a bar located next to the swimming pool in which you can enjoy your snack at anytime! Just dip yourself into the water, swim over to the bar and enjoy your ‘Pina Colada’ while your still in the water hanging on the bar. I mean, what more do you want!

I woke up from the sound of the sea, opened my curtain and looked over the beautiful architecture and swimming pool and instantly felt at ease. Nevermind a morning shower when you can dip yourself into a freezing cold bath just outside. I highly recommend you to visit this stunning place for a romantic weekend or a mental and physical detox holiday on this beautiful island.

If you would like to find out more or want to visit Udara Bali resort go to I’m sure you’ll fall in love with it just as much as I did!

My favourite place for Aerial Yoga, Serenity Canggu

I have always been that person who would sit on a chair and zone out, just to get a minute for myself. Trying not to think about anything or anyone, just a moment of meditation in the middle of a hectic day.

However, since I came to Bali I decided to take my meditation a little step further and take frequent yoga and meditation lessons. I realised there were many more types of yoga then I knew of. It was then that I found Aerial Yoga and I fell in love! Never have I thought that the combination of meditation, stretching every part of your body and doing tricks while having so much fun could all be combined!

My favourite place to go for Aerial Yoga is Serenity in Canggu.

Aerial yoga studio –  Serenity

Serenity is one of Bali’s most eco friendly guesthouses. This retreat gives you endless options as to different types of yoga lessons, a beautiful swimming pool, places to relax, healing Balinese massages and they even have an onsite warung (restaurant) that serves delicious healthy food. This retreat is fully build on an eco friendly base, with architecture build with natural products, they have a permaculture garden, a grey water waste system, natural insecticides, natural pesticides and a solar-powered shuttle buggy.

From the day when I took my first lesson in Aerial Yoga I immediately fell in love! This type of yoga is relaxing, for both your mind and your body. But at the same type its extremely fun and you get yourself into positions that you thought your body could never twist into – or untangle out of for that matter.

Aerial yoga has many benefits for your body and mind. First of all, its a full body workout. I always feel my muscles ache for at least the next few days. It clears your mind and releases stressIt improves your flexibility rather drastically! It increases strength especially in your core. It heals back problems, due to you stretching it will allow your spine to lengthen and it eases tension in the spinal cord and hip joint. I have back problems myself and it really helps release the pain. It also helps to improve your balance as well as helping your digestion. It even helps the circulation of blood, which means it will help against aging and its symptoms. It also detoxifies the circulatory and lymphatic systems, which lowers the onset of various cardiovascular issues. Aerial yoga even fortifies your neural connections, which helps improve your memory. Convinced yet? Thought so!

Aerial yoga –  Serenity

I love going to Serenity because its such a peaceful place. From the moment you step inside you feel the relaxing atmosphere. The lesson is held by an amazing teacher who makes the lesson respectable, fun and relaxing. Serenity has many great yoga teachers, but this man is someone special! His name is Mano and he makes you smile from the moment you walk in. The room in which the lesson is held is on the third floor, which gives you an amazing view over Bali’s green fields.

It truly is fun for any age and you can push yourself to any limits you feel comfortable with. No stress, no limits, no pressure, just pure fun, relaxation, meditation and stretching – and pretty much flying!

If you would like to try Aerial Yoga yourself I definitely recommend you to join a class (or a schedule) at Serenity. One lesson costs 110k Idr (6 pounds) but they also offer many packages such as 5 lessons for 500k Idr (26 pounds) or 7 day unlimited for 900k Idr (47 pounds).

Serenity is located on Jl. Nelayan, Banjar Canggu, Badung, Bali.

You have to give Aerial yoga a try, I’m sure you will love it as much as I did!

My morning waking up in Bali

Whether you wake up from a tropical rain or the sun shining on your face, any kind of day is a beautiful day in Bali. And I love to start the day with a good routine in order to wake up my body and mind!

The most important meal of the day also happens to be my favourite! I generally get way too excited for breakfast and so I love to go to new places and try all kind of deliciousness! At the moment I am staying in Canggu and I have to admit that one of my favourite breakfast places here is Peleton Supershop. I love getting the green acai bowl to have a sweet treat but also get those greens in!

There is one more thing I have to admit… “Hi my name is Britt and I have a coffee addiction”. No but really, offering me a hot, smooth and perfect cup of coffee is THE way to put a smile on my face! So starting with a coffee in the morning is for me the perfect start of the day!

Acai Bowl at Peleton Supershop

Before or after breakfast I love to give my body a good stretch! I have always loved yoga but since I moved to Bali it has become a big part of my life and is now part of my daily routine. My body feels more flexible, lighter and overall healthier and it has worked miracles on my mind. Everyone has ups and downs in life, thats what makes us human. I recently went through a down period in my life and I now found that meditation and yoga really performs miracles. Its now become part of who I am and it helped me get through those down days! For anyone that is reading this and also has these down days once in a while (which is everyone as we all have these days) then I highly recommend you to try some meditation or yoga. Go to a class or even do it at home by yourself – even if its for 10 minutes! Open up a youtube video and get going, you won’t know if it works unless you try right?

Yoga at Desa Seni

I love early mornings. I wake up drink my warm water with fresh lemon and get going to either my yoga class or when I am too excited I make my way to breakfast! There are many beautiful places here in Bali to enjoy – amazing and healthy breakfast spots or yoga retreats to cleanse your mind and stretch your body! Check out my other articles to find out more about these spots!

Yoga at The Practise in Canggu, Bali.

If the rustling sound of the palm trees, the crushing sound of the waves or the chirping sound of birds doesn’t calm you down, maybe its time to put yourself in the cobra position! But lets be honest, any day or any time is the perfect time to practise some yoga. Its good for your body and mind and it will leave you feeling relaxed and amazing.

I love feeding my body and mind with such goodness and so I quickly ended up finding a yoga studio here in Canggu. In fact, I just came back and I feel amazing. I am writing with my head still in the clouds.

The Practise, Canggu Bali

Today I visited a yoga studio named The Practise in Canggu. Its a little hidden from the main road but you will find a sign leading you into a small side road. Once you walk a little further a beautiful place will appear. Inside the bamboo fence there is a stunning studio where several beginner to advanced classes will be held daily.

The Practise, Canggu Bali

The room where the classes are held are large and circle formed. The roof is made of bamboo and has a large opening along the side which overlooks the garden. The whole building, every room, every seat, everything is made to create a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.

The Practise, Canggu Bali

After a class you can feel that both your mind and body are at peace. You walk down the steps and find yourself in the common area where there is fresh ginger tea for you to sip on. You sit down and sink into one of the chairs, while you overlook the peaceful garden. Birds are chirping, water is dripping, the whole experience is amazing.

The Practise, Canggu Bali

This studio is amazing, lovely people, peaceful atmosphere, great community and I feel great. This is definitely a must do when you find yourself in Canggu. Because who wouldn’t want to put their head in the clouds once in a while?
